Blood Hunger
Blood Hunger is an active nighttime constraint. If Coen remains blood-starved, he may lose control of his body and attack an NPC to drain their blood.
Short answer. Do not treat feeding as an optional damage buff. At night, hunger can create consequences of its own, so plan whom—or what—Coen feeds on before continuing objectives around vulnerable NPCs.

01 / Context
What this means in the valley
Official material says Coen can feed on humans, non-human creatures, or animals. The player can stop after rendering a target unconscious or continue draining them to death; embracing vampiric feeding also connects to corruption and stronger powers.
